Encountering Buddhism in Bangkok: A First Experience of Buddhist Prayer

In the gentle way strangers speak to each other. In the patience shown on crowded streets. In the calm that somehow persists even in downtown Bangkok traffic. I am always happy in Thailand. Calm. Grounded. Grateful to be in a country where harmony and respect aren’t abstract ideals but lived habits. Over time, it became clear to me that this atmosphere is inseparable from Buddhism — not as something people “do,” but as something quietly embedded in daily life.
